The Northern Virginia Health Foundation (NVHF) has appointed Comptroller of the City of Alexandria Ian Greaves, Ph.D., to its board of directors. His appointment is effective immediately.

"We are fortunate to welcome Dr. Greaves as a member of our board of directors," said Patricia Mathews, NVHF president and CEO.?"He brings decades of experience in key areas, such as interfacing with county and local governments, public accounting and managing financial reporting in healthcare. Dr. Greaves' counsel and expertise will be an important asset to the board and the Foundation as a whole."

Dr. Greaves is the Comptroller for the City of Alexandria, where he supervises the quality of accounting and financial reporting for the city. He also serves on the Board of the Alexandria Transit Company. Prior to his time as comptroller of Alexandria, he was the assistant comptroller for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). During his time as WMATA, Dr. Greaves helped oversee financial activities for a number of initiatives including the first phase of the Dulles Metrorail Project, which created the Silver Line and new mass transit stations in McLean, Tysons Corner and several other locations throughout the region. Prior to his time at WMATA, Dr. Greaves held a variety of management and senior leadership positions in the public accounting industry.

The Board of Directors provides leadership and guidance for achieving the Foundation's mission of improving the health of Northern Virginia residents, with an emphasis on low-income, uninsured, or underinsured persons
