Coworking Community Celebrates Half a Million Square Feet in Multi-state Portfolio

MakeOffices, a leading national coworking community, announced today the grand opening of their tenth Washington metropolitan area location at 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue, 7th Floor, in Washington, D.C.’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood. The 40,380-square-foot space features 108 private offices with transparent glass fronts with windowlines, as well as 50 open desks.

The grand opening event is Thursday, July 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Attendees can out-blend a friend at a smoothie bike station, snap a pic at a Pixilated Photo Booth, and find zen with Alison Waldman, RYT-200, who will be hosting wellness breaks throughout the event. Food will be provided by Blackfinn Ameripub, coffee tastings by Elixr Coffee Roasters, and beverages by Valor Brewpub, just to name a few.

“This is one of our most versatile coworking spaces yet,” said MakeOffices CEO Zach Wade. “It’s one part university-to-coworking pipeline, one part enterprise coworking, and one part community space. We’ve completely transformed an entire floor of the historic Western Exchange building into a dynamic space that opens up to provide maximum daylight and dramatic views of James Monroe Park to the north and George Washington University’s quad to the south.”

The new coworking space has multiple conference rooms of various sizes, eight audio-visual booths, ten call rooms, five phone booths, and a sound-proof recording studio with an editing station and podcasting equipment. Flexible furniture can be rearranged to offer events for up to 100 people seated.

Other support spaces include two Wellness Rooms and a Relaxation Room where members have a dedicated space to unwind. Alternative workspaces include expansive lounge seating, teaming areas, and bar height seating.

Prominently located at the intersection of the CBD and Foggy Bottom submarkets, MakeOffices at 2000 Penn is within walking distance to several major international organizations, such as The International Monetary Fund, The World Bank, and The American Red Cross, and is equidistant to the Foggy Bottom and Farragut West metro stations.

The common areas of the base building will soon be undergoing a major renovation. The result will be 52,000 square feet of ground floor food, beverage, and retail offerings, which include Bindaas, Duke’s Grocery, Chipotle, CVS, and others.

All MakeOffices members have free access to growth assistance from MRP Realty’s Town Hall offering, which helps coworking graduates design their future spec suites around common amenity spaces with other companies. This hybrid coworking model was created by MRP Realty, a MakeOffices investor, in 2016.

Members also get unlimited access to the company’s nine other Washington metropolitan area locations – Glover Park, The Wharf, K Street, Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, Bethesda, Reston Town Center, Clarendon, and Tysons – as well as their five additional locations in Chicago and Philadelphia through the MakeOffices Passport program.
