Junior Achievement of Central Maryland Inc. (JA), a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing young people to thrive in an ever-changing economy, welcomes Kaitlin Aprill as office manager.

Aprill will carry out multiple JA operations by maintaining office systems, offering administrative support and managing the front desk.

Before joining JA of Central Maryland’s team, Aprill served at KIPP DC WILL Academy in Washington D.C. as a Lead Teacher for two years. She helped create and implement plans to advance students’ science non-fiction reading, writing and comprehension, and presented best teaching practices to the KIPP DC network. Aprill received the 2014-2015 KIPP DC: WILL Academy Excellence Award for her dedicated work.

A Teach for America Corps member at D.C.’s Charles Hart Middle School from 2012 to 2014, Aprill developed a positive classroom and school culture focused on college readiness and citizenship. She was a founding member of the Charles Hart Middle School culture committee and the Head Coach of CHMS’s Girls on the run team.

Aprill also assisted Office of Michigan State Representative Dian Slavens as a Legislative Assistant in 2011, where she planned events, managed personal and professional calendars, developed meeting agendas and administrated Representative Slavens’ social media campaign, “Buy Michigan First.”

“As a Junior Achievement alumna, I am excited to be a part of this devoted network again and make an impact on the community,” said Aprill. “I am proud to work for a company with a cause that reflects my own goals and values.”

Aprill graduated from Michigan State University in 2011, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations and Policy as well as Sociology.
