Biggest Gainer
Friday's biggest gainer in Washington DC was Liquidity Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:LQDT), closing at $53.77 (+5.5%). The runner up gainer, rising 4.1% to close at $57.15 on volume of 759,050, was United Therapeutics Corporation (NASDAQ:UTHR). The stock changed hands at 0.8 times its current three-month average volume, with 473,926 shares traded. Liquidity Services is an online auction marketplace for wholesale surplus and salvage assets. It enables buyers and sellers to transact in an efficient, automated online auction environment offering over 500 product categories.
Biggest Loser
The biggest loser on Friday was Carmax (NYSE:KMX), dropping 3% to close at $32.34. Danaher (NYSE:DHR) was another big loser, losing 1.2% to finish the day at $54.76 on volume of 4.8 million. Shares traded at 1.7 times their three-month average on volume of three million. CarMax is a retailer of used vehicles in the United States. The company also sells new vehicles under franchise agreements with Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan, and Toyota.
