Nando’s Peri-Peri, the Afro-Portuguese, flame-grilled chicken restaurant, will officially open its doors at 702 King Street in Alexandria, Virginia on Wednesday, October 24th.

The restaurant’s two-day grand opening celebration begins on Monday, October 22nd from 12-2:45pm, 5-7pm and Tuesday, October 23rd from 12-7:45pm. In order to attend, customers must email RSVP@Mackenzie-pr.com to make a reservation for up to four people.

Reservations will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Nando’s Peri-Peri will also offer Old Town customers the chance to enter to win two round-trip tickets to South Africa, courtesy of South African Airways.
The Peri-Peri chicken restaurant recently announced that it had partnered with the award-winning African airline, with the intention of introducing Nando’s Peri-Peri USA customers to the culture and history behind the Nando’s brand. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the first Nando’s to open just outside of Johannesburg, South Africa in 1987.

The first American Nando’s Peri-Peri opened in Washington, DC in 2008. It was recently named one of the Top 12 Best Cheap Eats in Washington, DC by Eater.com readers.

Nando’s Peri-Peri Old Town is a 140-seat, two-story restaurant with different points of sale on each floor. The restaurant’s newly refurbished interior showcases a metallic sculpture that extends all the way from the bottom floor to the ceiling, as well as a patchwork mosaic wall composed of old metal signage and oil drums.

This will be the first Nando’s Peri-Peri location to be designed by the contemporary architectural and design firm, HapstakDemetriou+.
