Virginia law firm sees concern among many federal workers about their legal rights

The Spiggle Law Firm, which focuses on pregnancy and caregiver discrimination, sexual harassment and wrongful termination in the workplace, is expanding its focus to also include representing federal workers. Rob Porter and Joanne Dekker have joined the firm to chair the new practice, both bringing years of federal sector experience.

“Federal workers are facing a more uncertain work environment than they have in years,” said Tom Spiggle, founder of the Spiggle Law Firm and a former federal prosecutor. “If you are worried about your position, or you’ve recently lost your job under suspicious circumstances, you need to know your legal rights. Government employees have many rights and protection unavailable to employees who work for private companies.”

Dekker, who earned a law degree at Catholic University, is the author of “Employee’s Guide to Discrimination and Termination.” She has over 20 years of experience representing federal employees. With a law degree from the University of Chicago, Porter has represented both public and private sector employees in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings for years.

The new e-book, called “What Every Federal Employee Needs to Know to Win Her Employment Case,” is now available for download for free on the Spiggle website. The firm has also started a YouTube series on federal employee rights.

The Spiggle Law Firm represents workers in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and in Tennessee, on everything from pregnancy discrimination to severance agreements. Its other e-books include “You’re Pregnant? You’re Fired!” and “Employment Law for Women.”

“Many cases are lost before a worker even gets a chance to make their case,” added Spiggle. “The various rules and procedures have to be carefully followed or you can have your case thrown out. It’s crucial to get the best legal advice you can as soon as possible to avoid wasting valuable time that you might need later on down the road.”
