New Company Moving To Pulaski, Bringing 40 New Jobs To Stalled Factory

Falls Stamping and Welding has so far come up well short of the economic boon the company promised Pulaski in 2013, but an upcoming expansion is set to boost employment and bring the plant closer to meeting its full potential.

The company, which fills the old Renfro sock factory in Pulaski, now employs 15 people at the facility. But that number is set to swell to 55 employees as a new manufacturer — owned by the same parent company — is moving in to share the space, Falls executive Jason Taft said.

It’s an improvement, but still comes in below the 112 jobs the company anticipated when it was championed as one of the largest economic development wins the town had seen in years.

Taft said Falls, which builds metal parts for the large Volvo Trucks plant down the road, is reliant on the truck market. When production there slowed over the past couple of years, he said, projects the company had been banking on failed to materialize and the old Renfro building remained largely unused.
