More than $35 million raised nationally helps pay for critical medical care for local kids

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates are helping to “put the money where the miracles are” again this year through their annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising campaign. Local Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs raised $531,750 for Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC. The fundraising efforts are part of a broader national effort that raised more than $35 million in support of the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals member hospitals across the country.

Families count on Children’s National to help their children overcome major health challenges. Because of the generosity of partners like Walmart and Sam’s Club, Children’s National is able to ensure that every child, from every background and walk of life, can receive exceptional care regardless of insurance of ability to pay. The support of corporate donors allows the patients who come to Children’s National because of major health challenges to experience a happier and healthier future.

In addition to the funds raised through the campaign, Walmart donated a Frozen-themed sleigh to Children’s National. The sleigh will be kept in the Bunny Mellon Healing Garden, which provides a beautiful outdoor area for families to connect with nature and renew their spirits. The sleigh made its debut during the Healing Garden’s Winter Wonderland party on December 19. The night offered fun decorations, hot chocolate, pretend snow, and an opportunity to sit in the Healing Garden’s new sleigh with Frozen’s Ana and Elsa. See photos of the event and sleigh.

“Walmart and Sam’s Club associates’ support for children treated at our partner hospitals has always been rooted in an authentic desire to help kids in need,” said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Their passion is amplified millions of times over by customers and members who believe in our mission to give kids a chance at a better life. Their incredible response to the store- and club-level fundraising efforts are inspiring and impactful.”

Walmart and Sam’s Club have supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for 30 years. Funds raised impact each of the 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which treat 10 million kids annually across North America. Hospitals utilize the funds based on what they need most — including lifesaving equipment and research, top therapy programs, charitable care and more.
