Maryland freshman forward Bruno Fernando suffered a low right ankle sprain during the second half of the Terps' 87-62 victory against Ohio Dec. 7, according to Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon, who added that Fernando would "probably" miss the Terps' games against Gardner-Webb Dec. 9 and Catholic University Dec. 12.

Fernando got hurt trying to rebound a 3-point miss by Ohio's Kevin Mickle with less than 12 minutes left in the game. Fernando and junior guard Dion Wiley both went after the ball, jumping and landing next to each other at the same time. Fernando rolled his right ankle when he landed, immediately fell to the floor, rolled out of bounds under Maryland's basket and writhed in pain as he was attended to by a trainer.

Fernando stayed down for a minute or two while the Xfinity Center fell silent. Fernando was eventually helped to the end of the Terps' bench by the trainer and sophomore Justin Jackson. Fernando couldn't put any weight on his right leg as he was helped to the bench, but he limped to the locker room under his own power moments later.
