WomenHeart Appoints Calondra Tibbs as COO

WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, welcomes Calondra Tibbs as its new Chief Operating Officer. "Calondra brings a wealth of management and healthcare experience to our organization, and will be instrumental in helping WomenHeart advance our mission and increase awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death in women," said Mary McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of WomenHeart. "We look forward to working with Calondra as we continue to provide education, advocacy, support and hope to millions of women."

Prior to joining WomenHeart, Tibbs served as a senior advisor of programs at the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) focusing on chronic diseases. As NACCHO's director of Maternal Child and Adolescent Health and Injury and Violence Prevention, she supported the professional development of NACCHO members with trainings, resource materials, and communications efforts.

"I am thrilled to be joining WomenHeart in its mission to improve the health and quality of life for the nearly 48 million women living with or at risk of heart disease," said Tibbs. "My management experience at the local, state and national level will help me ensure that women across the country who are living with heart disease will have access to the care and information they need to live longer healthier lives."

Tibbs has also worked with the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health where she addressed community concerns related to disease clusters related to environmental exposure. She later served as the environmental epidemiologist for the Shelby County Health Department, in Tennessee, where she worked on issues such as environmental exposure, environmental justice and emergency preparedness.
