Nonprofit brings hope, healing to victims of childhood sexual abuse

No More Stolen Childhoods, a Cockeysville-based nonprofit that brings hope and healing to victims of childhood sexual abuse, has appointed Vanessa Milio executive director.

Milio, a Towson resident, brings more than 20 years of experience in developing high-level strategy and big-picture solutions to nonprofits and corporations.

She has served as president and CEO of Harford County Chamber of Commerce; executive director and founding director of Baltimore Police Athletic League, Inc.; program director and founder of Raising Strong Sisters Program; foundation director for Harford County Public Library; project director for YMCA of Central Maryland, Urban Services Branch; youth and family services director for YMCA of Central Maryland, Towson Branch; and deputy director of Business Volunteers.

Milio has also served as a consultant to numerous nonprofits including Maryland Food Bank, Babe Ruth Birthplace and Sports Legends Museum, and Women's Housing Coalition.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Philadelphia College of Art & Design, The University of the Arts, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Hartford, Hartford Art School.

Active in the community, Milio has served in a variety of volunteer roles including fundraiser/event chair for the Rose of Sharon Equestrian School's “Films on the Farm” and Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center's “Artisan Market; a ConnecTEEN facilitator for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County; advisor, Greater Harford Committee; board member for Entrepreneurs Edge; team leader for the LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock; and board member and event co-chair for the Tyanna Barre O'Brien Breast Cancer Foundation.
