Region's 117 Voted Best Brunch Spot in the Greater D.C. Area

11/19/17

LAKE FREDERICK, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Region’s 117, a farm-to-table restaurant overlooking Lake Frederick, is the only restaurant in the greater D.C. area to be named to this year’s coveted lists of the 100 best brunch spots and the 100 most scenic restaurants in America, both by OpenTable. The acclaimed restaurant serves farm-to-table cuisine prepared by executive chef Scott Bilstad in a casual, yet upscale environment using locally sourced ingredients mostly from within 117 miles of the restaurant.

“With striking views of the Shenandoah Valley and Lake Frederick, visitors get double the view while enjoying our regionally inspired brunch menu,” said Bilstad. “We are honored to have just opened a year and a half ago and already be recognized not by one accolade, but two.”

OpenTable’s annual “best brunch” and “most scenic” restaurant lists were compiled by analyzing more than 10 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified Open Table diners of more than 25,000 restaurants in the U.S. Restaurants were scored based on overall quality and the percentage of reviews which mentioned either “brunch” or “scenery.”

Located at Trilogy® at Lake Frederick, an exclusive and upscale 55+ active lifestyle resort community, Region’s 117 has a wildly popular brunch menu that includes twists on such staples as steak and eggs, shrimp and grits, an “untraditional” Eggs Benedict, and croissant French toast. All are made with locally sourced ingredients, including some grown on site at a special chef’s garden. Trilogy at Lake Frederick was recently featured in the Washington Post as one of the greater D.C. area's most active retirement communities and was noted for its fine dining.

Aside from having unrivaled lake and mountain views and a delicious, locally sourced brunch, Region’s 117 boasts a modern architectural design that’s rooted in the Shenandoah’s history and culture and inspired by the area’s historic farmhouses. Located in the 36,000-square-foot Shenandoah Lodge & Athletic Club, which has been recognized for its distinct architecture and interior design, the restaurant features a timber-frame deck made with solid Douglas fir beams and soaring vaulted ceilings with massive exposed wood beams accentuated by natural light from expansive windows. There is also an outdoor veranda with additional seating allowing guests to take in the views while eating.

“One of our specialties is comfort food, and there’s no better comfort food than a hearty Sunday brunch overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains,” added Bilstad. “To have so many customers praise us specifically for this was a tremendous honor and we look forward to continuing to inspire both old and new guests with all that Region’s 117 has to offer.”
