Augusta Health and Anthem BlueCross BlueShield remain in active negotiations this week, both parties confirmed Monday, after the hospital announced last month that it intended not to renew their contract under its current parameters.
Anthem director of corporate communications Scott Golden added that they're still hoping to reach an agreement with Augusta Health.
As of Tuesday, there are 47 days left before the contract expires at the end of 2017. When Augusta Health said in early October that the two sides were at an "impasse" in negotiations, CFO John Katsianis said a new deal would likely come by mid-November if it's going to come at all. Insurance providers typically like to have those situations ironed out 30 to 45 days before a current contract expires, he said.
