Do you have an idea to help Martinsville or the surrounding area diversify its economy? Then the Southern Virginia GO Region 3 Council wants to hear from you. The group is looking for business-related collaborations and marketing services as part of efforts to help the region diversify its economy.
GO Virginia, formally the Virginia Initiative for Growth and Opportunity in Each Region, is a coalition of business leaders statewide emphasizing a need for regional cooperation in attempts to create jobs and encourage growth within the private sector, as well as to prepare workers for careers.
Along with Martinsville-Henry County, Region 3 includes Danville and Pittsylvania, Patrick, Halifax, Nottoway, Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Prince Edward, Lunenburg, Buckingham, Cumberland, Charlotte and Amelia counties. It is the largest of the nine GO Virginia regions, covering about 17 percent of the state. But it has the smallest population at roughly 372,000 – about 4 percent of the state’s residents.
