Terps Coach Mark Turgeon On Freshman Bruno Fernando: 'He Plays To Exhaustion'

Maryland freshman power forward/center Bruno Fernando didn't play during the Terps' exhibition against Randolph-Macon Nov. 2 as he continued to recover from a high ankle sprain in his left leg, but he is expected to be ready for Maryland's opener against Stony Brook Nov. 10 barring a setback, Terps head coach Mark Turgeon said after the exhibition.

Turgeon discussed what Fernando brings to his team at media day Oct. 31.

"He's a hard-playing dude that we really haven't had. I guess he's a 6-[foot]-10 Dez Wells, kind of plays that hard, that competitive," Turgeon said. "He plays to exhaustion. You put him over on the sideline, give him a little Gatorade, he comes back out and does it again. The kid's amazing. Shot-blocker, great rebounder, very vocal.
