HJF Announces Executive Team Changes

Bethesda, Maryland, Oct. 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF) has announced changes to its executive team, including the promotion of three individuals.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Folk, Cynthia Gilman, JD, and Alyssa Shepard, Ph.D., were elevated as part of the realignment. Folk transitioned from her role as Vice President of Sponsored Programs and Acquisitions to Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff. She serves as senior advisor to the CEO and leads the executive team to ensure successful operations across HJF. She has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland and has held key financial and administrative positions with HJF for more than 25 years.

Gilman, who transitions from Vice President of the Center for Public-Private Partnerships to Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, now leads all communication, business development and public-private partnership efforts. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. She joined HJF in 2007.

Shepard was promoted from Director of USU Services to Vice President of Research Administration. She leads the administration of awards received by HJF as well as all subcontracting and procurement functions supporting HJF activities. Shepard received her Ph.D. from Harvard University and has been an HJF employee since 2001.

The senior leadership changes also include the previously announced addition of John Sigmon as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer on Oct. 16. He joined HJF from AARP, where he rose from Senior Human Resources Business Partner to Vice President, Group Human Resources Consulting Services, and then to Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina.
