John J. Seng, founder of DC-based communications agency Spectrum, was inducted into the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame on October 12, 2017 at the 49th Annual Thoth Awards.
A public relations professional since 1979, Seng had a vision of building a different agency model. He founded Spectrum in 1996 as an independent agency focused solely on health and science communications, affording the freedom to put clients first and empowering employees to do their best work. In 2004, Seng co-founded GLOBALHealthPR (GHPR), the largest independent health and science communications agency partnership worldwide. Since 1999, the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame has inducted public relations leaders in the Washington, DC area. All inductees must have a minimum of 30 years' experience in the public relations field, led and inspired others with their visionary leadership skills and positively impacted and contributed to the industry as well as to their local public relations communities.

Seng's Hall of Fame induction follows Spectrum's 2016 recognition as The Holmes Report's "Healthcare Agency of the Year", a 2016 PRWeek "Best Places to Work" winner and a 2016 PR News "Top Places to Work" honoree. In addition, Seng received the PRSA Frank J. Weaver Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 to honor his outstanding contributions to the public relations practice.
