Following a tumultuous nine months at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, the Peninsula Airport Commission will announce a new leader on Friday, the airport’s interim executive director said.
Sandy Wanner, who’s been at the helm of the airport since March, said the six-member board has picked a new executive director, and that candidate has accepted the job. The board will vote to ratify the hire at a special airport commission meeting at 8 a.m. that day.
Wanner declined to reveal the name of the candidate Tuesday. He would not say whether it’s someone from inside or outside of Virginia, saying only that he currently works in the aviation industry.
