Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Mike Crossen has joined the firm’s Government & Public Policy practice as a partner. He will work in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as Foley’s primary Republican public affairs representative and will also have a presence in the firm’s Boston office.

With more than 30 years of public affairs and legal experience, Mr. Crossen regularly handles government relations issues across a variety of industries and also represents a broad range of clients in the health care, energy and financial services sectors, including portfolio companies of private equity firms and hedge funds. He works with members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to shape legislation and administrative action and has a Republican public-affairs presence in Massachusetts and New England.

“Mike will be a tremendous asset for clients navigating the complexities of government regulation,” said David Ralston, chair of Foley’s Government & Public Policy practice. “His diverse experience in government relations and as an attorney will strongly complement our growing Government & Public Policy team, and we are looking forward to having him on-board.”

In addition, Mr. Crossen has experience advising his clients on a range of business-related matters, including commercial and business transactions, debt, equity, corporate governance, regulatory issues, environmental issues, real estate development and land use. He also routinely handles transactional negotiations and dispute resolutions, as well as business and real estate purchase agreements, loan and surety agreements and settling agreements. Mr. Crossen represents businesses before boards and administrative agencies in all forms of dispute resolution.

“Mike’s experience will significantly elevate our presence on the ground in Washington as well as across the country,” said Scott Fredericksen, managing partner of Foley’s Washington, D.C. office. “His arrival will make an immediate positive impact on our growing team and we are thrilled to have him continue building his practice with us.”

Mr. Crossen is civically and politically active, having sat on boards for various organizations throughout the past 25 years. His involvement includes serving as the National Finance Committee chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee and as finance chair for high-profile political campaigns. He also sat on the board of overseers for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as well as the board of directors for the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation, the Boy Scouts of America Cape and Islands Council, the Heritage Museum and Gardens and the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Board.

Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Crossen was a partner at Rubin and Rudman LLP. He is admitted to practice law only in Massachusetts. His Washington, D.C. practice is limited to executive and legislative branch lobbying and work before federal agencies.
