Russell Seymour Tapped To Lead Leesburg Economic Development

Leesburg Town Manager Kaj Dentler announced during Tuesday night’s council meeting that Russell Seymour has been chosen to be the next director of economic development.

Seymour will start his position Nov. 6 and work alongside the current director, Marantha Edwards, until she retires on Jan. 5, 2018.

“[He’s] a very seasoned veteran,” Dentler said, adding that it will be helpful for Edwards and Seymour to work side-by-side during this transition period.

Seymour has served in Virginia government for much of his career. He currently works as the assistant director of general services for James City County and has had economic development experience with Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County. During his first government job, as the comprehensive planner for Stafford County, he became familiar with Northern Virginia.
