Enlightenment Capital, an aerospace, defense, and government focused investment firm based in the Washington, DC area, announced that Bob Work has joined the firm’s advisory board. Bob Work brings over four decades of national security, defense strategy, programming and budgeting, and defense transformation expertise to Enlightenment’s respected group of advisors.
Work was appointed by President Obama to serve as the 31st Deputy Secretary of Defense. In this role, Work oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Department of Defense and the development of its $600 billion program and budget for three different Secretaries of Defense before leaving government service in 2017. Prior to that, Work served as Under Secretary of the Navy. Work served his country for 27 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Colonel.
“Bob’s distinguished career in service of his country – both as a Marine and at the senior ranks of the Pentagon – make him a leading expert in the markets in which we invest. He is a thought leader in defense transformation and dual use technologies, and he will be of invaluable support to our efforts to find and support compelling businesses,” said Devin Talbott, Managing Partner of Enlightenment Capital.
“The national security and defense landscape is constantly evolving, presenting new challenges to the national security community and the companies operating in the space. I look forward to working with the Enlightenment Capital team to identify and bolster innovative firms facing these challenges head-on,” said Bob Work.
