Paola Gianturco wrote “Wonder Girls: Changing the World” with her 11-year-old granddaughter to document the work of 15 girl-led nonprofits around the world. The book is third in a trio of books including “Women Who Light the Dark,” which showcases women activists, and “Grandmother Power: A Global Phenomenon,” which showcases grandmother activists and received four literary awards.

Gianturco’ images have been exhibited at the United Nations, UNESCO, the U.S. Senate, The Field Museum, the Museum of the African Diaspora, the Norton Simon Museum and the Grand Rapids Public Museum. She presented a TED Talk in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and was also a guest on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” CNN, NPR and Voice of America. She continues to lecture internationally.

Gianturco serves on the advisory boards of three nonprofits: Rise Up/Let Girls Lead, which empowers girls to advocate for policy change; Pencils for Africa, a child-led initiative that aims to alter the narrative about Africa; and Global Grandmothers, who support children in need internationally.

In addition to a presentation from Gianturco about the issues affecting women and girls, the Celebration of Women and Girls will showcase The Women’s Giving Circle’s accomplishments and upcoming goals. Tickets to the event cost $60, include light fare, dessert and wine and can be purchased online at womensgivingcircle.org.
