AppGuard Raises $30M Series B

9/18/17

AppGuard LLC, maker of intelligent prevention endpoint protection software, announced today that it has secured a more than $30 million Series B financing round led by Japan’s JTB Corporation. The funding will be used to finalize the acquisition of KeepTree, Inc., a leader in secure video communication technology, and increase AppGuard’s brand awareness in both enterprise and SMB markets. In addition, the company announced the appointment of KeepTree’s CEO, technology and security veteran Jon Loew as its new CEO. Loew will also serve as Global CMO and Board Director of parent company Blue Planet Works. Several other top KeepTree executives will also join the AppGuard team.

This added capital comes just three months after an investor group led by ANA Airlines, Dai Ichi Life Insurance, global advertising juggernaut Dentsu, and several other Japanese companies contributed more than $65m to AppGuard’s parent company, Blue Planet-works, Inc., a Tokyo, Japan-based company. The funding was used to re-launch the brand, which was revealed at cybersecurity event Black Hat USA in Las Vegas, last month.

“Today’s sophisticated security threats have rendered traditional detection-based security software virtually useless and has forced the world to look for revolutionary new endpoint security solutions like AppGuard.” said Loew. “AppGuard’s dynamic isolation approach to cyber security is the definition of disruptive. There isn’t a large enterprise out there who wouldn’t benefit from our technology.”

AppGuard is based on patented dynamic isolation technology. It prevents all endpoint breaches while allowing applications and the computer systems to operate correctly. It is simple for ordinary computer administrators to manage because it is not complex. AppGuard is less than 1MB in size -- other vendor products are more than 100 times larger.

ANA’s head of Cyber Security commented that ““from the perspective of the enterprise, defending against advanced threats is a constant battle. We have high hopes for this new cyber defense technology offered by AppGuard®, and we also believe that this technology will reduce our overall security spend moving forward.”

“The acquisition of KeepTree, and the appointment of Jon Loew as CEO of AppGuard will further accelerate our plan to establish AppGuard as a global leader in cyber security and safety.” said Global CEO, Hiroshi Nakata.

Since inception AppGuard has been recognized by prominent industry analysts as a leading product for next generation isolation and containment endpoint protection. It is also a repeat winner for Best-Anti-Malware product in the marketplace for 2014, 2015 and 2016 from GSN Homeland Security Awards and won a Homeland Security Award from American Security Today in 2016.
