Bright MLS, one of the nation’s largest multiple listing services (MLS), today announced that its Chief Strategy Officer David Charron has been elected President of the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) for 2018.

Charron brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology and real estate industries to the role, with a commitment to challenging the status quo and leveraging new technologies. Throughout his career, Charron has been a major proponent of MLS innovation and consolidation. Most recently, he played an integral role in bringing together 43 Realtor associations to consolidate nine MLSs into Bright MLS, the multiple listing service for the mid-Atlantic region.

Charron has served on the CMLS executive team for the last year as President-Elect. He was officially installed as President today at the annual CMLS conference in Austin, Texas. As President, Charron will lead the CMLS executive team, working with industry leaders to foster MLS innovation across the country.

“David’s vision and expertise are a tremendous asset to our organization,” said Denee Evans, CEO of CMLS. “He is committed to asking bold questions, challenging established processes and inspiring others to find innovative ways to better serve brokers, agents and consumers.”

“It’s such an honor to serve as President of CMLS,” said Charron. “The CMLS Board is made up of some of our industry’s most inspiring leaders. These are the people who can navigate these days of disruption and tidal shifts in the industry. But these are also days of great opportunity. Together we will learn, collaborate and hopefully seize that opportunity to advance the industry.”

The Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) is the professional trade organization that serves to advance the MLS industry in North America through unified leadership, collaboration, and education across the real estate industry. It was formed as a premier forum, advocate and resource in 1957 and has since evolved into a volunteer-led organization that is responsible for the advancement of MLS through education, innovation, and the implementation of best practices, industry standards, and next generation solutions in support of MLS providers with over one million subscribers.
