Bristol, Virginia, Working With Potential Tenant For Ball Plant

City leaders said Monday they are actively working with a potential tenant for the shuttered Ball Corp. manufacturing facility.

Their comments came during the first of six planned community meetings, this one at Van Pelt Elementary. Less than a dozen people attended the session hosted by Mayor Kevin Mumpower, Councilman Bill Hartley and City Manager Randy Eads, but they voiced concerns or asked questions about topics ranging from trash pickup, road issues and drainage to concerns about city finances and The Falls development.

Resident Roger Williams asked if there is any progress on refilling the Ball facility. Ball idled about 230 workers when it shuttered its can lid production plant in early 2016 and it remains empty.
