Nadeam Elshami to Join Signal Group as EVP

9/7/17

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SIGNAL Group, a leader in government relations and strategic communications, today announced that it has hired Nadeam Elshami to join the firm as an Executive Vice President in its growing team of professionals. He will start in his new role on October 16, 2017.

Elshami, the top House Democratic staffer, was named by POLITICO Magazine in 2017 as one of its power players in Washington. Elshami joins SIGNAL Group after serving four years as Chief of Staff to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and three years as her Communications Director while Speaker of the House.

While Elshami, a 25-year veteran of Capitol Hill, will situate primarily in the communications business, he will also be active in the firm’s government relations practice.

“Nadeam’s talent and deep experience are precisely the qualities SIGNAL is searching for in a hire of this caliber,” said Eric Bovim, Managing Director of the firm’s communications business and a member of its Executive Committee. “We’re excited to bring aboard a true public affairs pro, someone with intricate knowledge of the legislative process and how to use the media to influence that process in today’s Washington.”

Elshami’s career has placed him at the intersection of politics, policy, communications and advocacy. He has executed innovative campaigns to persuade congressional, public and media opinions on a range of complex issues that span healthcare, foreign policy, the financial crisis, government shutdown, immigration, consumer protection and other issues. As Chief of Staff to the Democratic Leader, Elshami oversees all components of the office, including policy, communications, public outreach and Member relations.

“It’s an honor to join one of the top public affairs firms in Washington during an exciting and complex time in DC,” said Elshami. “I’m thrilled to leverage my skills and talents on behalf of SIGNAL clients and to help build up the considerable communications and government relations businesses.”

Prior to joining the office of Speaker Pelosi in 2007, Elshami served as Senior Communications Advisor and Spokesman for Assistant Democratic Leader Dick Durbin of Illinois. Earlier in his career, he was Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director to Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois and Deputy Press Secretary to Senator Boxer of California. His first job on Capitol Hill was in the Senate mailroom. He holds a BA from University of Evansville and is married to Stacy Elshami and they are the proud parents of three children.
