Planning is under way for a Nov. 4 event – Martinsville Community Care Collaborative – to provide coordinated health care services and community resources for up to 300 people.

Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine and numerous local and other partners are collaborating on the event, which will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Martinsville’s Uptown Ministry Center at 146 E. Main Street and some other parts of the church.

One of the local organizers – Mandy Brannock, operations director of Bassett Family Practice – said: “We really want residents in the community to be aware of the services offered to everyone in MHC (Martinsville-Henry County) regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. This is an opportunity to get a free basic medical assessment, receive patient education regarding medical conditions, and then connect folks with a primary care home in MHC like Bassett Family Practice.”
