Norfolk Admirals Owners Are Suing Owners Of Norfolk Tides, Seeking $500,000

Norfolk’s two minor league professional sports teams are embroiled in a legal standoff that has resulted in federal lawsuits being filed in Norfolk and New York City and the teams hiring two of the region’s most esteemed law firms.

The owners of the Norfolk Admirals claim that owners of the Norfolk Tides baseball team misled them about the costs of operating the hockey franchise when they purchased the ECHL team from the Edmonton Oilers nearly a year ago.

The Admirals are seeking more than $500,000 in compensation.

Power Play 1, the limited liability company that owns the Admirals, alleges in court filings that had it not been for “misrepresentations” by the Tides, “Power Play would not have closed on the ECHL team at the price it paid.
