A $40 million-plus expansion to Williams Stadium that boosts seating capacity by nearly 25 percent is targeted for completion next fall, just in time for Liberty University’s inaugural year as a member of the top tier division of college football.
A major stadium feel with a grand entrance were two of the priorities Liberty highlighted when it recently released renderings for the project, the first expansion at the field since 2010.
The expansion, with room for 25,000 seats, will provide needed upgrades behind the east sideline and coincide with the football program’s transition to the Football Bowl Subdivision.
