Goodwill Executive Development Program Recognized With National Award

8/24/17

Goodwill Industries International is pleased to be named a 2017 winner of the American Society of Association Executives' (ASAE's) Power of A Silver Award for its Executive Development Program (EDP).

The EDP is a 16-month curriculum that blends classroom instruction and applied learning with a focus on results and performance. Its primary aim is to help learners develop the skills necessary for success as a Goodwill president and CEO. Currently, there are 162 Goodwill CEOs across the United States and Canada who lead local Goodwill organizations that create employment placement and job creation opportunities for people in their communities.

The Power of A (Association) awards celebrate extraordinary contributions that associations make to society and are considered the highest industry recognition that a program can receive from ASAE.

"The Executive Development Program demonstrates Goodwill's commitment to producing experienced leaders who are able to shepherd the community-based work we do throughout our social enterprise," said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "Our leadership and learning team members are worthy recipients of this prestigious award."

ASAE created the Power of A as a means of educating lawmakers about associations and their key role in society. It has transformed since then into a platform for associations to show their value to all outside audiences, not just policymakers.

"Congratulations to Goodwill and its Executive Development Program for their efforts to enrich and strengthen lives," said Sharon J. Swan, CEO of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and chair of the Power of A Awards Judging Committee. "They exemplify how we work best when we work together and how associations have a positive influence on our everyday lives."

Goodwill is among 56 associations to receive ASAE Power of A Awards this year. The awards program and recipients are recognized at the organization's 18th Annual Power of A Summit Awards Dinner on Wednesday, October 4 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

This award is the third award that the EDP has received as it is the recipient of two prestigious Leadership Excellence Awards, produced by HR.com, which acknowledge the best leadership programs and executives in the United States.
