Fish & Richardson announced today that four principals, including Donna Balaguer in Washington, D.C., have been named recipients of the 2017 “Women Worth Watching” award and are featured in a special issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal (PDJ).According to PDJ, “these women are forging ahead with global acclaim in strategies that are making a difference in their workplace, marketplace and around the world.”
Donna Balaguer advises clients on the full range of privacy and data security laws and best practices, from the early stages of developing a privacy plan to handling a breach. She counsels clients across multiple industries, including hospitality, healthcare, media, communications, manufacturing and retail. Balaguer also works with companies that are building new “Internet of Things” products – everyday objects that collect and transfer personal data about their users. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1994 and her B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from George Washington University in 1991.
The other principals include Corrin Drakulich (Atlanta) who specializes in intellectual property litigation spanning a wide range of technologies; Janis Fraser, Ph.D., (Boston), a scientist-turned-lawyer who specializes in finding practical solutions to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies’ most challenging patent issues; and Sheryl Koval Garko (Boston) who focuses on intellectual property litigation with a particular emphasis on trademark, copyright, trade secret, and media litigation.
