Venable LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its nationally recognized real estate practice with the addition of Angela J. Crowder as counsel in the New York office. Crowder joined the firm from Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann LLC, in New Orleans, La.

Ms. Crowder focuses her practice on commercial real estate and finance, drawing on her wide-ranging knowledge of virtually all aspects of real estate transactions. She has worked on a variety of leases and development agreements and regularly advises on private financings, purchase and sales agreements, joint ventures, loan sales, workouts, construction contracts, and general corporate matters. She also has experience in the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of credit facilities. She works with public benefit corporations, developers, private companies, borrowers, and lenders.

“Angela’s well-rounded experience in virtually every type of real estate transaction, and in representing clients in an in-house and outside counsel role, will add significant depth to our New York-based bench of real estate attorneys,” said Peter Koffler, Chair of the New York Real Estate Group. “Moreover, her experience advising public benefit corporations in tax credit and funding mechanism transactions complements our team in New York, which advises government agencies and local development corporations in similarly complex projects.”

Matt McLaughlin, Partner-in-Charge of the New York office, added, “Venable’s sophisticated and comprehensive real estate practice is central to the firm’s growth in New York. Angela’s stellar background is a great fit for the group and our clients in this area.”

At Venable, Ms. Crowder joins a Real Estate Group representing real estate investors, developers, landowners, and public agencies in the legislative, administrative, and regulatory aspects of complex zoning. Chambers USA, Legal 500, and U.S. News-Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" have consistently recognized the group among the top practices, both regionally and nationally.

“Venable is an excellent firm, and I am looking forward to contributing to the growing real estate practice in New York. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with such a collegial and professional group,” said Ms. Crowder.

Ms. Crowder received a J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, and a B.A. from Louisiana State University.
