Free Back-To-School Fashion Show Announced At Ellsworth Place In Downtown Silver Spring August 26

DC Fashion Week to preview Back-to-School fashions from Ellsworth Place retailers at all-ages event featuring a scavenger hunt with $500 Dave & Buster’s gift card, free screening of Back to the Future

Petrie Richardson Ventures (PRV) and Rockwood Capital, the owner-developers of Ellsworth Place retail center in downtown Silver Spring, and DC Fashion Week announced today a free, all-ages back-to-school fashion show, scavenger hunt, and screening of Back to the Future. The all-day event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26. The first 100 attendees will receive an Ellsworth Place tote bag to use for their back to school shopping with the mall’s many retailers.

The event kicks off with a social media-centric scavenger hunt, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Anyone who completes the scavenger hunt within the allotted time will be entered into a drawing for a $500 gift card to Dave & Buster’s, who opened in Ellsworth Place in November.

DC Fashion Week, a non-profit partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models from throughout the Washington metropolitan area, will put on a fashion show on the ground floor of Ellsworth Place, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The show will feature adult and youth models in back-to-school attire from various Ellsworth Place retailers and the areas hottest designers. Radio personality Guy Lambert, of WPGC 95.5, will host the event.

The day will culminate with a free indoor screening of the classic film Back to the Future, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.Complimentary popcorn will be provided to moviegoers on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Ellsworth Place is truly a one-stop-shop for everything families need to get ready for the school year—from clothes and accessories to back packs and school supplies,” said Terry Richardson, president and COO of PRV. “We see this free community event as a way to bring some fun back into this annual shopping ritual.”

Ellsworth Place’s current anchor tenants include Burlington Coat Factory, Dave & Buster’s, Guitar Center, Marshalls, Michaels, Ross and T.J.Maxx. Other tenants include F21 Red, Foot Locker, Shoe City, Not Your Average Joe’s restaurant, Kung Fu Tea, and MOD Pizza.

Ellsworth Place is projected to generate approximately $38.4 million in tax revenues over the next 20 years. There will also be approximately 807 permanent FTE jobs in the County, and during the construction phase, the renovation is projected to generate 253 temporary jobs. On a statewide level, Ellsworth Place is projected to generate $175 million in state tax revenues and support 881 permanent jobs, inclusive of those in Montgomery County.
