DJ Durkin: Terps' Defensive Linemen 'Coming Into Their Own'

When it comes to the 2016 Maryland defense, the numbers are well-documented. The Terps ranked 11th in the 14-team Big Ten in rushing defense, giving up 214.8 yards per game.

Maryland allowed 414 yards to Indiana, 372 to Penn State, 273 to Michigan, 270 to Michigan State, 253 to Ohio State and 229 to Minnesota.

After Mike London, Maryland's defensive line coach last year, was hired as the head coach of Howard University after the season, Terps head coach DJ Durkin hired Jimmy Brumbaugh to be his co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach in February. Brumbaugh, the defensive line coach at Kentucky from 2013-2016, faces a stiff challenge in improving a unit that was often blown off the ball by the big, physical offensive lines in the conference.
