The Maryland men's basketball program released its nonconference schedule Aug. 14, and the Terps will host UMBC Dec. 29 in its final nonconference game of the 2017-18 season.
It marks the first time Maryland and UMBC have played since Dec. 23, 2002. The Terps won, 101-60.
UMBC went 21-13 overall last season and finished sixth in the America East with a 9-7 conference record. The Retrievers won three games in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Invitational (CIT) but lost in the semifinals to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. UMBC's top returners are rising senior guard Jairus Lyles (18.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season) and rising junior guard Joe Sherburne (10.9m 4.0).
