Knowledge to Practice, an Ed-Tech firm using competency-based, personalized, adaptive curricula to contemporize postgraduate medical education for physicians, announces Joseph Lemheney, Ed.D., as its Chief Learning Officer.

As CLO, Dr. Lemheney will report directly to Knowledge to Practice's Chief Executive Officer, Mary Ellen Beliveau. In his role as CLO, Dr. Lemheney will lead the company's lifelong learning team as well as clinical content operations. Together these teams are responsible for curriculum design, faculty development, instructional design and the actual development of meaningful clinical content as well as assessments. Lemheney and his team will create, develop and implement "content capsules" - manageable five to 20-minute self-contained lessons that present best practices and critical information to enable doctors to stay current with clinical guidelines, innovations and emerging medicine.

"Knowledge to Practice's innovative approach isn't simply adding video or Q&A but offering an innovative approach to medical education, designed with the post graduate physician in mind," said Joseph Lemheney, Ed.D., Chief Learning Officer at Knowledge to Practice. "Better defining learning objectives, identifying individual knowledge gaps, using innovative instructional design methods, and delivering tailored information through an interactive multimedia platform establishes a new bar. As a former hospital administrator and medical educator, I see in K2P's platform a way to revolutionize post-graduate education; from trainee to faculty to practicing physician."

Before joining Knowledge to Practice, Dr. Lemheney was the Vice President of Education and ACGME Designated Institutional Official at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), a $2.4B network and one of the nation's leading health systems. In this role, he successfully reengineered workforce development programs and organized education as an integrated service for LVHN's more than 15,000 employees. Prior to LVHN, Dr. Lemheney headed the Center for Teaching, Learning & Instructional Technology at Northampton Community College one of the nation's top community colleges. He holds a Doctorate of Education in Learning & Technology from Pepperdine University.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Dr. Lemheney's caliber join Knowledge to Practice's team and lead our unique effort to bring post graduate medical education and CME into the 21st Century," said Mary Ellen Beliveau, Chief Executive Officer, Knowledge to Practice. "Joe will lead the development and implementation of K2P's vision and strategy for our growth plan into medical specialty areas. He will guide everything from identifying trends in clinical education to distilling emerging medicine to increase the practice of patient-centered care with the goal of helping physicians deliver improved outcomes."

About Continuing Medical Education

The $2.65 billion dollar continuing medical education (CME) industry traditionally consisted of educational activities that disseminated didactic lectures and digitized didactic lectures. "Traditional" activities include destination conferences, publications, and audio and video recordings of conferences. However, studies demonstrate these methods are ineffective, and physicians are challenged to actively transfer such knowledge to practice. Knowledge to Practice is proficient at understanding the needs of practicing physicians, distilling the literature and emerging medicine into very practical, digestible sequences of learning that fit the lifestyle of the time starved physician.

Knowledge to Practice's approach addresses both knowledge and performance. Transforming the way academicians teach and elevating the lifelong learning experiences of physicians; Knowledge to Practice tailors personally relevant learner-centric learning. Knowledge to Practice's proprietary online system was designed to fit into physicians' demanding schedules, and to match each physician's unique practice needs. Using a self-assessment module, physicians can identify knowledge and practice gaps, stay current, and develop/maintain mastery across their core competencies.
