Dr. Noel Boaz and his company, the Integrative Centers for Science and Medicine, can’t afford to repay the grant given for their proposed medical school. That was one of several things Boaz highlighted in his response to the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, a copy of which he provided to the Martinsville Bulletin on Friday.
In addition, speaking with the Bulletin, Boaz said he is requesting a state review of the commission’s May decision, where members voted to order either the company or city of Martinsville to pay back the full amount of the grant. The reason is that he feels the decision was a political one, rather than a result of following guidelines.
“[We] have posed three specific queries that we believe are important to have answers to before any agreement to repay is made,” Boaz said.
