Marvin T. Griff
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Marvin T. Griff has joined the firm’s Corporate Transactions & Securities practice in Washington, D.C., as a partner. Griff joins from Husch Blackwell.
Griff counsels electric utilities, clean technology companies, alternative energy developers, interstate and intrastate natural gas and oil pipeline companies, local distribution companies, large end-users and energy marketers on complex transactions. He has served as regulatory counsel on mergers, asset divestitures and acquisitions as well as in new infrastructure and rate proceedings. Griff represents a wide range of energy companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other federal and state agencies and courts.
Griff served as counsel to a demand response petitioner that successfully appealed FERC’s Order 745 before the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, he served as a member of the U.S. government-designated Gore-Chernomyrdin Committee, comprised of U.S. energy companies and energy executives advising the Russian government on restructuring and revising its tariff system. He has received an Outstanding Performance Award from FERC’s Office of the General Counsel and is an articles editor of Energy Law Journal.
“I was impressed with Thompson Hine’s talented lawyers and reputation for top-flight service, as well as the firm’s focus on providing clients with maximum value and efficiency,” said Griff. “I was also attracted to the firm’s strong regulatory and corporate practices and its growing Washington office.”
Griff is the most recent partner to join the firm’s Washington office. Earlier this year, the office welcomed a Government Contracts practice from Cooley LLP led by Tom Mason and including Francis E. “Chip” Purcell Jr. and Ray McCann. Also this year, Mark Lunn joined the firm’s International Trade practice group from Dentons LLP.
“The interests of our clients across the business spectrum are often affected by energy-related issues. Marvin’s experience will further strengthen our ability to address those issues,” said the firm’s Washington D.C. office partner-in-charge David A. Wilson. “We are pleased to welcome him to Thompson Hine.”
