Paul Skalny has been elected as chair of Howard County General Hospital’s board of trustees. Skalny has been an attorney and managing director with the Howard County-based law practice of Davis, Agnor, Rapaport & Skalny for more than 14 years.

“I am excited to be leading the board as the hospital begins the campus construction and renovation project and undertakes the development of a master facility plan that will create a road map for the hospital to be at the center of health care for our community,” Skalny said.

Skalny represents entrepreneurs and investors, and serves as general counsel to businesses, financial institutions and nonprofit organizations. He counsels clients in all phases of their businesses, from formation or acquisition to planning, strategy and growth through sale and transition. Skalny’s practice also includes real estate and development, as well as business succession planning.

Among his community service activities, Skalny serves on the board of trustees for Johns Hopkins Medicine. He also serves on boards for the Howard Technology Council and the Maryland Business for Responsive Government, and as general counsel for Leadership Howard County. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Johns Hopkins University. He lives in Ellicott City.

Skalny joins Elizabeth Rendon-Sherman, CEO and chief financial officer of LG-TEK, who was elected as board vice chair, and David C. Condron, member at DCMM & Associates, who will remain board treasurer. Their two-year terms began July 1.
