Annual wage increases for members of Newport News Shipbuilding’s largest union would range from 1.5 percent to 3 percent under terms of a contract proposal introduced Sunday.
Negotiators for United Steelworkers Local 8888 and the company reached a tentative agreement late Saturday. Details were presented Sunday during a members-only meeting at the Hampton University Convocation Center.
A ratification vote could take place this week.
According to a handout distributed at the meeting and obtained by the Daily Press, an immediate wage increase of 1.5 percent would be followed by a 2.6 percent increase in 2018, then 3 percent increases each in 2019 and 2020.
