UPDATE: Richmond Real Estate Firm Says CEO's Injuries From Plane Crash Are Serious, But Not Life Threatening

Justin Glade Knight, president and CEO of Apple Hospitality REIT Inc., suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a plane crash in Buckingham County on Tuesday afternoon.

“We greatly appreciate the concern for Justin’s well-being and the outpouring of support following yesterday’s accident,” the Richmond-based real estate investment trust said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon. “We feel very fortunate that the injuries he sustained were not more serious and we look forward to his full recovery.”

Knight was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville after the small plane he was piloting crashed in a Dillwyn cornfield. His 11-year-old son, the only passenger, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
