WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Mark Lunn has joined the firm as a partner in its International Trade practice. Lunn joins from Dentons.

Lunn represents foreign manufacturers and exporters and domestic manufacturers and importers in antidumping and countervailing duty cases. He also advises manufacturers and government entities on a broad range of cross-border regulatory matters, such as global trade policy, global trade litigation, export controls and sanctions, anticorruption statutes including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, customs issues and the Buy American provisions of government contracting law. In addition, Lunn has experience with regulatory matters impacting importers, including food safety regulations and labeling requirements. He has practiced extensively in Russia, India, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Mexico and Chile and has substantial experience in a variety of industries, including magnesium, seafood, polyester film and other manufactured products.

“Thompson Hine, with its SmartPaTH® program, is on the cutting edge of law practice management,” said Lunn of his decision to move to the firm. “The firm’s sophistication in fee, budget and legal project management is unparalleled in the market; providing transparency and efficiency is truly the firm’s mindset. I am excited to join a broad-based trade practice and a firm with strong supporting practices of government contracts and white collar litigation.”

Lunn’s experience includes defending the first antidumping case against Russia since it was designated a market economy, representing the Korean shipbuilding industry in an EU trade barrier case and World Trade Organization (WTO) litigation, and obtaining the exclusion of a Chinese client’s products from an antidumping investigation in the United States. Lunn has litigated numerous WTO matters, negotiated a number of suspension agreements in the context of antidumping proceedings, and has had clients’ products successfully excluded from the scope of trade remedy orders. Lunn counsels clients on market access issues under WTO rules and has successfully worked with a number of clients who were denied access to markets due to actions of governments that were inconsistent with WTO rules.

Previously, Lunn held positions within the trade practices of two multinational law firms. Before entering private practice, he worked in the Office of Policy at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Lunn’s work at Commerce included participating in the Uruguay Round negotiations that resulted in the creation of the WTO, as well as working on the U.S. legislation implementing the Uruguay Round. He was also the U.S. representative to the antidumping and countervailing duty committees of the WTO and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, as well as to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s working group on subsidies. Before joining the Commerce Department, Mark was a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon.

“Mark joins the firm during an important time for international trade practices,” said David A. Wilson, partner-in-charge of Thompson Hine’s Washington office. “His extensive international trade experience and practice in foreign jurisdictions will be a tremendous benefit to our clients.”
