Former Associate Director for Health Programs in the US Office of Management and Budget, Adaeze Enekwechi, is Latest High-Profile Hire as Office Continues to Grow

McDermott+Consulting is pleased to announce the arrival of Adaeze Enekwechi, PhD, MPP as Vice President. In this role, Dr. Enekwechi will serve as a senior health policy professional on an integrated team providing health industry clients with policy advice, data analytics and modeling, and other advisory services.

Dr. Enekwechi was most recently appointed the Associate Director for Health Programs at the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB).  In this senior level role, she and her team participated in the design of key healthcare policies and programs such as the implementation of MACRA; and she also reviewed, and approved every domestic health regulation issued by the federal government during her tenure.  Dr. Enekwechi had jurisdiction over all domestic federal health programs, including Medicare, the Innovation Center (CMMI), Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act’s federal exchange operations.  She also had jurisdiction over health programs implemented by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Dr. Enekwechi served as a policy authority with the Congressional Budget Office and the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission and led evaluation of physician groups’ and hospital systems’ participation in bundled payments at another widely known consulting firm.  “Her diverse policy experience is invaluable to health care clients as they adapt to a rapidly changing policy and market environment,” said Paul Radensky, the other Co-founder and Principal of McDermott+Consulting.  “Having served as one of the most senior health policy advisors at the White House, Adaeze offers a uniquely insightful perspective as we continue to help clients navigate the complex issues surrounding health care reform and other federal health policies,” noted Zimmerman.

Dr. Enekwechi holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from American University and a Ph.D. in Health Services and Policy from the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health. She also completed post doctorate studies at the University of Chicago School of Medicine.
