Strong Pitching, Defense Propelling Chesapeake Baseball

Ken King, the head coach of the Chesapeake High School baseball team in Anne Arundel County, insists his team is not playing with revenge on its mind this season.

Behind its ace Joe Seidler, the Cougars led Huntingtown, 2-0, in the final inning of last year's Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association 3A state championship. But it all came apart for Chesapeake during the final three outs, as sloppy play and timely hits by Huntingtown allowed the Hurricanes to jump out to a 4-2 lead. Chesapeake was able to score one run in its final turn at the plate, but lost, 4-3.

As his team is in the midst of another season, King said this year's group has changed from the difficult experience, but it isn't something the Cougars overwhelmingly use for inspiration.
