Atom Bank Founder/Chairman Anthony Thomson to Serve as Keynote Speaker

Womble Carlyle and Bond Dickinson are co-sponsoring the third FinTech Forum: The Global Reach of Financial Innovation, presented by the George Washington University Center for Law, Economics & Finance. The event takes place Thursday, March 2nd at the GWU School of Law in Washington, D.C.

The FinTech Forum will bring together thought leaders and industry insiders from all segments of the financial technology industry. Speakers will include PayPal Head of Global Public Policy Usman Ahmed, American Banker Editor at Large Penny Crosman, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Chief Counsel Amy Friend, World Bank Senior Financial Specialist Fredesvinda Montes, Electronic Transactions Association CEO Jason Oxman, and Discover Financial Services Director of FinTech and Payments Helen Wong.

Anthony Thomson, Founder and Chairman of Atom Bank, the U.K’s first digital-only Challenger bank, will be the morning keynote speaker for the event. Atom Bank is an app-based bank offering cost-effective, personalized banking services to U.K. customers via their mobile devices. Thomson previously launched and led Metro Bank, the U.K.’s first new High Street bank in more than a century.

Bond Dickinson-Womble Carlyle Alliance attorneys Alastair Mitton and Dean Rutley each will speak on key panels at the event.

Rutley will speak to his representation of clients who have used M&A as a means to keep up with the speed of technology development in the financial and banking industries on the panel, “Caveat Emptor: Opportunities and Challenges in FinTech M&A.” Mitton will use his substantial FinTech regulatory experience in the UK to moderate a panel discussion on “FinTech Abroad: Comparing International Regulatory Developments.”
