PSA Insurance & Financial Services (PSA) Vice President and Senior Risk Advisor Valerie Corekin, CPCU, ARM was appointed to the board of directors of the Cybersecurity Association of Maryland, Inc. (CAMI). CAMI is a nonprofit organization formed in 2015 to facilitate sales and job growth for the state of Maryland in the $100 billion global cybersecurity industry, and is the first cybersecurity group of its kind in the country.

PSA has been a premier sponsor of CAMI almost since its inception, and Corekin previously served on CAMI’s advisory council. As a board member, Corekin will work to advance CAMI’s mission to raise awareness of the need for cybersecurity, provide resources to cyber businesses in Maryland and create jobs within the cyber sector. “PSA does much more than just sell cyber insurance; we promote enterprise cyber risk resiliency, which is why I welcome the opportunity to work with CAMI in this capacity and help businesses of all sizes achieve cyber risk resiliency,” says Corekin.  

Corekin has worked in the insurance field in underwriting, as an agent and as a technology consultant, working with insurance companies to address technology implementation and use-related issues as well as cybersecurity concerns. In her current role with PSA Insurance & Financial Services, Corekin specializes in serving clients with sophisticated risk management needs within the technology, real estate and manufacturing industries.

An engaged member of the cyber community, Corekin is a frequent speaker and media resource as well as a published author of “Insurance 101: Why Do I Need This Stuff?” Upcoming speaking engagements include CAMI’s Cyber CEO Breakfast Club event on February 8 and a panel discussion at CAMI’s Cyber Business Plan Series panel scheduled for February 10.

A Poolesville resident, Corekin earned The Institutes’ Associate in Risk Management designation in 1990 and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 2002. She majored in metaphysics during her time at a small, independent college in Los Angeles.
