Decked out in his Sunday best, Charles Daniel prowled the grocery store aisles for bananas, frozen vegetables and ice cream.
The Jessup, Md., resident attends church in Washington, so he often stops by Weis Markets in Laurel to pick up “some stuff I had a taste for” on his way home from worship services.
Daniel peered into the freezer before settling on two half-gallons of Weis brand ice cream—one black cherry and one chocolate malt.
“I love ice cream,” Daniel said. “But I don’t want to pay a lot, because it goes so fast. It doesn’t stick around long.”
