Fish & Richardson Adds Five New Associates

Washington, D.C. -- Fish & Richardson announced today that it has added five new associates - Peter Guarnieri, Adam Pugh, Chen Qian, Adam Shartzer, and Sam Williams - in its Washington, D.C. office.
Peter Guarnieri has joined Fish's Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation Group. Prior to his law career, Mr. Guarnieri was a senior consultant at Appian Corporation, where he worked on all stages of life cycle enterprise software applications for a variety of clients and projects. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University Law Center in 2011 where he was on the executive board of the American Criminal Law Review, and his B.A., magna cum laude, in computer science from Duke University in 2004. He is admitted to the bar in Virginia.
Adam Pugh has joined Fish's Patent Group. Previously, he was an engineering intern with the Air Force Institute of Technology. Mr. Pugh received his J.D. from Stanford University Law School in 2007, where he was lead article editor of the Stanford Journal of International Law. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, in physics and mathematics from Vanderbilt University in 2004. He is admitted to the bar in Ohio and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Chen Qian, who has seven years of experience as a technology specialist at Fish, will continue to work with the firm's Patent Group and will be part of the China team. Her practice emphasizes patent litigation across a wide-range of technologies that include semiconductors, microprocessors, video display devices, digital memory structures, and storage devices. Prior to Fish, she was a senior engineer at MicroStrategy, Inc., then a senior consultant at Claraview, Inc., specializing in software development in the areas of business intelligence, web ECRM, and e-commerce applications. Ms. Qian received her J.D. from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 2011, her M.S. in computer engineering from Lehigh University in 1998, and her B.S. in computer science and technology from Tsinghua University in 1995. She is admitted to the bar in Virginia.
Adam Shartzer has joined Fish's IP Litigation Group. Previously, he was a judicial intern to the Honorable Richard Linn for the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; a judicial intern to the Honorable Robert L. Barton, Jr., for the United States International Trade Commission; and a law clerk for the Honorable Sharon Prost at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to his law career, he was a systems engineer at Solers, Inc. Mr. Shartzer received his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School in 2008 and his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia in 2003. He is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia, Georgia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Sam Williams has joined Fish's Patent Group. Previously, he was a hardware/software analysis engineer and a patent clerk for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade. Mr. Williams received his J.D. from the University of Maryland in 2009, where he was associate editor of the Maryland Law Review. He received his M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland in 2005 and his B.S., summa cum laude, in electrical engineering from Columbia University in 2002. He is admitted to the bar in Maryland and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
