WASHINGTON, DC -- McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA), home to the largest and most recognized government contracts practice in the U.S, has launched its fifth blog, Government Contracts Advisor. This blog will serve as an informative resource on legal, legislative and industry developments impacting government contractors working in industry sectors such as aerospace and defense, electronics, communications, information technology, technical services, finance, infrastructure, construction, health care, biodefense, and life sciences.
Produced by members of MLA's nationally-recognized government contracts practice in Washington, DC, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Diego, Government Contracts Advisor will focus on a variety of issues including bid protests, compliance and investigations, cyber security, cost accounting, business systems, procurement fraud, suspension and debarment, and terminations and contract restructures, among other relevant topics.
The contributors to Government Contracts Advisor are:
• Mark Budwig, a partner in the San Diego office, represents contractors, subcontractors and owners in a wide variety of construction litigation actions.
• Jason Carey, a partner in the firm's Washington, DC office, litigates bid protests and other government contracts-related cases; counsels clients regarding intellectual property issues and a wide range of compliance matters; and defends clients under investigation by federal and state governments.
• Kevin Lombardo, a partner in the Los Angeles office, counsels clients on international government contract issues, including export control, ITAR, and FCPA. He regularly advises clients on government contract compliance issues and has significant experience managing internal investigations and in defending cases brought under the False Claims Act.
• Steven Masiello, a partner in the Denver office, focuses on government and commercial contracts and related regulatory matters, including counseling and litigation concerning cost allowability, cost accounting and business systems issues, government contract intellectual property (patents and software and data rights) matters, bid protests and other contract and regulatory claims and disputes.
• Michael Rizzo, acting department chair for MLA's Government Contracts practice and a partner in the firm's Los Angeles office, works to resolve contract disputes in both the public and private sectors.
• Henry J. "Jim" Schweiter, a partner in the Washington, DC office, focuses his practice on government contracts and government affairs. Having served as General Counsel to the House Armed Services Committee, he is able to help companies develop effective targeted legislative and regulatory solutions.
• Kevin Slattum, a partner in the Los Angeles office, touches on nearly all aspects of federal government procurements with extensive experience in contract disputes and business systems and government cost accounting issues.
• Jason Workmaster, a partner in the Washington, DC office, focuses his practice on government contracts-related litigation and investigations, including civil False Claims Act cases, bid protests, and contract disputes. He also has extensive GSA contract experience.
• Gail Zirkelbach, a partner in the Denver office, focuses her practice on internal investigations, defense of fraud actions and white-collar criminal defense for numerous aerospace and technology companies in all government contracts and compliance areas.
