WTOP Supports Arena Stage as Part of its Charity of the Month Program

Washington, D.C. - WTOP Radio 103.5 FM today announced that it has named Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater as WTOP's Charity of the Month for February 2012. As part of WTOP's Charity of the Month program, Arena Stage will be featured in on-air promotions, as well as in WTOP social media and on WTOP.com throughout the month.

The not-for-profit organization Arena Stage was founded in 1950 and was one of the nation's original resident theaters. Gaining a distinguished reputation over its six decades of existence for leadership and innovation in the field, Arena Stage has become a national center for the production, presentation, development and study of the American theater. For over 60 years, Arena Stage has proudly served the DC metro area. For more information, visit www.arenastage.org.

"We are so pleased to be a part of WTOP's efforts to help local nonprofits," said Edgar Dobie, Executive Producer at Arena Stage. "In today's market and challenging economy for nonprofits, a program like this is so valuable to organizations like ours to help us share our message. WTOP's Charity of the Month program shines the spotlight on Arena Stage and helps us to better serve the Washington, D.C. community."

The WTOP Charity of the Month program highlights one local charity every month in order to raise community awareness, support events and help with fundraising efforts. The charity chosen each month receives more than $30,000 in free air-time and in-kind contributions including a total of 64 30-second on air promotional announcements on WTOP Radio and Federal News Radio, as well as promotional content on WTOP.com and social media exposure across WTOP's social media platforms.

"We here at WTOP are proud to support Arena Stage through our Charity of the Month program," said Robin Newton, Public Relations/Marketing Specialist, WTOP. "Arena Stage does such amazing work for the community that we are happy to do what we can to help them raise awareness for their organization."

The WTOP Charity of the Month is sponsored by WTOP partner Papa Johns. Each month Papa Johns donates a one-time offer of up to ten free pizzas to WTOP's chosen charity to be used at the event of the charity's choice.
